Accessory availability
on: October 27, 2020, 06:09:14 AM
Can't find this topic elsewhere. How have members found accessory ( and parts) availability in their part of the world. Here in Australia, there are NO centre stands available - have to be ordered from Japan with a quoted 8-10 week wait according to the dealer. This is pretty poor for a current model. I did have a genuine Kawasaki radiator guard fitted at purchase last year, and have sourced my 16 tooth front sprocket and fender extender from aftermarket sources in the UK. I know the RS isn't the biggest selling bike in Australia, but one would hope the parts situation is better if and when I need any. At least the oil filter is a common Kawasaki item, and one presumes that air filters will not be a problem. Interestingly, my local bike shop, a Honda/ Yamaha dealer, can order me Kawasaki parts , but not Kawasaki accessories. Is this the case elsewhere also?

Original accessories are available only via authorized Kawasaki dealers.

Yeah mate, I'm in the Newcastle area (NSW) and your problem is pretty common. Consumable parts (filters, brake linings etc.) are generally available, but just about everything else is order in from Japan. Kawasaki Australia keeps very little stock on hand, because it costs them money. I pulled the drive shaft out of my GTR last year, and waited 8 weeks for a band clamp (special type, of course) and an o-ring with a back up ring, before I could put it all back together. Webike Japan can be your best friend, but their postage costs can be a bit high.
I know this doesn't help you much, but it is what it is I'm afraid.

Wow, I guess we're pretty lucky in the US.

Web stores like PartZilla, BikeBandit, etc. can get Kawasaki original parts and accessories and usually shipping is pretty quick (better prices than Kawasaki dealers as well).

I've purchased the Kawasaki center stand, radiator guard, gauge trim, sprocket, and grab handles from PartZilla and had no problems.

For things like filters I just do a Google search and look for the best price.  Last time I bought a handful from Motosport.com, but even places like Amazon sometimes have OK prices (and sometimes not).

Iv purchase some gear off Webike in Japan. Very fast  postage if they have it in stock. Saying that I have been waiting on a comet fairing since August and should be getting sent out early next month. All depends on availability.

Same issues here in NZ--Currently waiting for centre stand & lower seat--been on back order 2 months--supposedly due in early December--all pretty pricey as well!

The independent shop that I use was told that many Kawasaki parts are on a 3 month back order.  So far, I've been waiting 6 weeks for a part for my Concours.

Dare say the Covid virus is a probable cause? Friend here who owns a cycle shop cant get his Orbea bikes from Spain as the factory is closed on account of the virus over there....

Picked up my genuine RS centre stand from my dealer today. Earlier delivery from Japan than quoted which was good. Certainly better than the 3-4 months I was quoted today for a temperature sensor for my mate's MV Agusta Brutale 1090. Incidentally, my stand cost $295 Australian which is better than I could import any of the aftermarket brand alternatives for, due to delivery charges.
Any tips for an easy pain and frustration- free installation? I'll tackle it this weekend. Instructions seem straight forward, but folks often find better ways.
