Am I going mad or?
on: November 18, 2019, 07:48:39 AM
New bike only 750 km on the clock, original Dunlop GPR300 tyres. Middle pic is rear, first and third are front, looks like the canvas in the tyre showing through, but not in an area that even touches the road. Is this normal before I make a fool of myself at the dealer? They were overinflated when I collected the bike, 48 psi rear and 45 psi front

YIKES not normal go back to the dealer. Get a new tire. If that was not right who knows what else on the tire is wrong. I am sure they will NOT want you riding around on that! Good eye mate :028:

Suggest you take them back, should be due for a new tyre under warranty.

Or maybe send those pics (or a link to them) to Dunlop and see what they say:

Weird though, looks like bits of canvas actually in the rubber, as oppossed to the canvas showing through. Wonder if this is poor quality control ?

We have had this issue in the UK . It is when the tyre is being removed from the mould at the press . The tyre will be ok .
Just remember itís cheap tyre made under licence in the Far East using the Dunlop name .  Best thing I ever did was change tyres for peace of mind , much more grip and feedback and better suspension.
This condition is not though uncommon and the tyre is not apart to fall apart its jusy to repeat , itís when itís being removed from the mould . Remember why Kawasaki chose these tyres inthe first place . They are primarily cheap and secondary adequate .

Cheap or not you paid for tires without a defect. No question in my mind what I would do😲

Mine too, made in Japan. They started to square off, after ca. 5500km on them. They both still have ca. 1mm to the "bridge" on them, but I think will replace them in the spring.

Maybe Japan is only in the far east as far as the UK is concerned?
Other parts of the world must see it differently to us?

Anyway, they're made by Sumitomo, Tokyo.
