But if I was going "back" to four pipes for a real retro look, I would need twin shocks.  The price of a "kit" (Swing arm, upper shock mount brackets/adapters and shocks) to install those would would probably make the Doremi pipes price look like they were giving them away! :156:

Probably cheaper to buy an original Z1 in good condition, and they're not cheap in the UK!  :005:

TRUE!  :038:

FWIW, on one of the Norton motorcycle websites a while back, a guy was fabricating a single-sided swing arm for his 1973 Commando.   Go figure... :112:

:062: I never thought of that - just make a fake set of rear shocks for appearance purposes!   :084:

Now add THAT to the four pipes and you've got something!!!

Doremi products are too dang expensive. If they can sell the repro Z1 four into four system for $1200 there is no justification for charging over twice that much for the Z900rs pipes. If they made them affordable I would buy them as I desire a retro look for my bike. I suspect many others would buy them also were they affordable. So get with it Doremi. They won't  be expensive due to limited production if you'll  give us a reason to buy them.

Fake twin shocks look dismal on the RS IMO but I would like the four pipe look at a good price.  I didnít change them on my 1970 CB750-4 and I kept the pair of 3 into 1 headers on my CBXs.  I preferred the twin pipe look.  However, I did buy a DG header and collector for a Kerker single can that ran occasionally on the CBXs and the sound was spectacular! :008:  lighter too, especially felt in the twisties. But, pipes on each side just looked better.

We always ran performance exhaust systems on our bikes back in the 70`s. Kerker 4 into 1 on the kaw 4`s. Now 46 years later the emphasis is on both the collectors value of the old bikes and the nostalgia of the new retro bikes. For the most part I am unwilling to sacrifice the performance of the new bikes in order to make them look like the old bikes. I don't  need dummy shocks on mine. Retrofication can be done without sacrificing performance.

Well, I as being totally sarcastic re the dummy shocks- can't imagine anybody installing such a thing BUT the real conversion is available if somebody wants to pay the price...also, it appears, from the Japanese company that supplies Doremi.  I think it's called Force K or something like that.

If I wanted a Z900RS to really look like a retro bike, it would have to have the shocks AND the pipes.  Luckily for my checkbook, i don't!   :008:

If you'd want that, why not but an actual old bike? Or a triumph, they have the dual rear shocks...

Agreed, since the RS came out some were disappointed they were not an exact remake of the 1973 Z-1. For the money of a new RS I'm sure you could find a very nice rider early Z-1. If that's what you really want. Not me, been there done that I'm loving the RS as is.
