Triple Tree Stand
on: August 16, 2019, 02:31:01 AM
It appears the pin I have for my existing triple tree stand doesn't fit the Z900RS.  Does anyone know what size pin is needed for a triple tree stand for this bike?

Thanks!!

Does it need to be bigger or smaller?  If bigger, you might get lucky with a deep socket that fits over the existing pin and in the hole. I used that “method” on another bike. A cheap impact deep socked will work.

I’m thinking about this one that includes several pins.  Good price too!

I have one of those stands that I used on my ZX10R a few times, it came with 4 different pins, none of the 4 is big enough for the Z900RS unfortunately.. I guess I'll try and fabricate one myself.

What size does it take?  This kit comes with five.

Did not measured it yet, but its big, the optional pins go from 13 to 18mm, I read something about it having to be around 27mm here: https://www.z900rs.co.uk/index.php/topic,1313.0.html

Thanks.  I did try searching but guess I didn't put in the correct search terms as I didn't find that thread.

I knew it was large but wasn't guessing 27mm large.  Appreciate it.

I just did a search for 27MM head lift pins and they do sell a separate pin kit for the Venom stand in this Amazon link:

Still not a bad price even when you add in this other pin kit.

I have the venom TT stand, and it worked fine for a previous bike I used it to change fork seals. What I did, since the pins were small also, used a deep impact socket the fit over the pin, and inside the TT.  Worked  just fine.  If you have one, try it, if not, might as well get the right pin, unless you can find a cheap socket locally and quicker, because a deep socket that size goes for around the same price as the pin.
