I also wished I started using ear plugs much earlier than I did.  It might sound odd, but I feel like I ride faster and better with them in

Boubon (my liquor of choice), you do ride faster because you are more at ease.
I find the quieter and smoother the bike runs the faster I go. Much more enjoyable.

I realize some folks like to rock & roll.

FWIW the Akrapovic header (without the needed flash) is much more acceptable after blocking off the PAIR valves.

Quite noticeable. Don't believe I need anything else to do other than flashing again for the Akra.

Amazon, where else,  :008:

It worked, however, it was too small in diameter, and kept slipping out of the mid pipe, and stop at the exhaust (used header wrap to hold in place and it worked for a while.}

I need to remeasure and see if I can find one the correct diameter (slightly less than the mid pipe) so it will stay in place.

My experience was the same fitment wise.

Noise was reduced but so was performance top end so I got used to being louder.

At a guess the noise is reduced by almost half but still with a great exhaust note
Bilstein you are right, not as load and a very nice tone.
 I have tried the stock muffler with the Akra header then with a MIVV Stainless which is very well made it"s smaller and fits close to the bike and a bit quieter than stock but still a bit too loud for me around town.
I bought a Akra muffler on the forum and have installed it, the outlet side is about the same size as the stock muffler but the OD is a larger so it it must have  more packing which is why it is quieter. All three mufflers give the bike a different look and I like the look of all of them.

I have got used to the Akra pipe and stock can set up now, worryingly it doesn't seem loud any more (maybe my hearing is going)..... still everyone comments that its ounds amazing!!  Even the Mrs likes it  :435:
