Puig Retro Semi Fairing
« on: June 20, 2019, 09:53:38 AM »
Has anybody fitted one of these to their bike ? I have fitted one to my spark black bike and I can't get it to line up over the headlight. It looks ok on the bike but the bottom fits perfectly around the headlight, the top looks like it should go back 10mm but can't because of the clocks. The fairing does look really good, I've had it wrapped in a gloss black finish.

Hi, I'm thinking of getting one of these. How do you find it? Does it make a difference at higher speeds (motorways) and are there any side effects like helmet buffeting or wind noise?

Thanks

It works really well, haven't noticed any helmet buffeting at all. Motorway speeds are effortless. I've actually taken the fairing off the bike and replaced it with a smaller Puig screen.

Hi. Thanks. What prompted the replacement?

Either one looks good. Lets see an actual pic of your bike vs a stock photo!
Neither will have much protection but they both give the standard RS a sporty look. I have rode with 'fly screens' for the better part of ten years now, and I get by just fine...

I wasn't happy with the fit around the headlight although this could have been down to my poor fitment. I had the smaller Puig screen fitted to a BMW R9T a while ago and thought it looked really well, in hindsight I should have gone for it originally. I will post a picture of my Z900RS with the screen fitted when I get the chance.

I have the Puig naked windscreen. Looks really great and keeps wind of the lower part of the torso, but for highway speeds, I don't think it really makes a difference.

THinking of getting a higher windscreen, and reuse the Puig Naked brackets that always stay on my bike. I sometimes remove my current windshield but the brackets remain on the bike (i also painted them black).

I'm thinking of this one: https://puig.tv/en/tuning-motos/windshields-low-for-round-headlights/windshield-plus?bike=21297

Its almost 10cm higher than the Puig Naked and used the same mounting system,

Whats the tallest windscreen you've ever seem that fits the Z900rs?

That looks ok and I can imagine for touring it will make a noticeable difference, To be honest I haven't seen many other Z900RS's on the road. I wouldn't like to see anything bigger fitted. To be totally honest I ride a Suzuki V-Strom 1000 for touring and I've fitted a Givi Airflow screen which is amazing.

I had the Givi Airflow on my 650 V-Strom and it truly was amazing-no head buffeting at all but I think it would look stupid on the RS,

I wasn't suggesting for one minute fitting the Givi Airflow to an RS, you couldn't get one to fit and it would look awful.
