They are both JASO MA2  API SG/SF/SI and the such.  I know Kawasaki doesn't make their own oil and I trust Valvoline and Castrol as I run them in my cars.  I figure for the first oil change dino oil is the way to go.  These are both on sale for $5 a quart at Pep Boys, can't beat that!  I may switch to a synthetic in an oil change or two.

I used Valvoline 10/40 in my old CBXs for years but switched to Amsoil synth for all the obvious reasons.  I had no problems with Valvoline except oil consumption.

Nope my first oil change was mobile1. Been running that in everything I own for 40 years now. (Except my air planes) never had a problem. :046:

Maybe I'm wrong.  I have read quite a few good reviews on the Kawasaki oil, it is only .90 more per quart, I'm just more of a believer in Castrol/Valvoline/Rotella ie branded oils.

Just means that it gets to the bearings a little bit faster on a cold start. Operating viscosity is the same.

I ordered and received Castrol 4T 10W40 Actevo semi synthetic from Walmart .com  for $18.97 shipped plus tax.  I saw the exact same oil at our local aftermarket motorcycle accessory and parts store (CG) for $36.......   I will use it when I hit 600 miles in a month or so and report if I notice anything.

Surprisingly my local dealer is inline on his oil and filter prices so I'll just stick with that.

I used motul 7100 in my kt m last year after using Castrol  , repsol and katana previously. The improvement in gear change was unbelievable and will be using that in all my bikes forever after! But more money but worth it for the silky change.
